Evil in the sight of the Lord.

That phrase is used 44 times in the Bible. Below are the 2 verses that say when you do or that the children of Israel WILL do evil in the sight of the Lord.

All 42 other verses are an accusation, or condemnation of those that have done evil in the sight of the Lord.

Deu_4:25 When thou shalt beget children, and children's children, and ye shall have remained long in the land, and shall corrupt yourselves, and make a graven image, or the likeness of any thing, and shall do evil in the sight of the LORD thy God, to provoke him to anger:

Deu_31:29 For I know that after my death ye will utterly corrupt yourselves, and turn aside from the way which I have commanded you; and evil will befall you in the latter days; because ye will do evil in the sight of the LORD, to provoke him to anger through the work of your hands.

At 57 years of age I have learned in this life there Is one and only one constant. That everything changes. Long term changes, short term changes, change is the one constant.

50 years ago this was a moral nation for the most part, with a high standard set for personal accountability. Pride in work, pride in self, dress and behavior.

Now 50 years later, none of that applies anymore. We have a society of victims, with no (as far as they think) accountability and can do as they please.

Deut 4:25 rings loud in my ears for God tells them what is coming and for years we have seen this cycle repeat yet we did nothing to stop it.

In fact we have hastened this fall away by our own indifference. The generation before me started to count church as optional, my generation treated it as a joke until we got a bit older and understood.

By the time we understood what was happening it was too late. We have now lost the fight, not the war but the fight and a few battles. We no longer quote the Bible as they used too, we no longer attend as they used too, and I am talking about the pulpit as much as the pew.

Even the church looks at sin now and shrugs, even the church looks at God and fails to see Him.

When God’s house no longer sees God? The one who paid the down payment? Then we are truly in trouble.

Mat 28:6 He is not here: for he is risen, as he said. Come, see the place where the Lord lay.

This is the cornerstone of all we do. right here if it had not been said, if it had not been done, if He had not arose, then nothing we do will matter.

He is not here, this matters so very much, for had He been in the grave on that Resurrection morning then what would we have? Just another Sunday.

He is risen. Notice the wording, not brought back, not raised to life, No He is Risen. He who laid down His life for you has taken it back up and now, because He took His life back, He can give you that very life that He promised in John 3:16.

Jesus is in His Physical, perfected body yet the body that still carries the scars, the marks of His time here on this earth.

He arose, As He said.

He said He was going to Rise again. He said He was going to be in the grave for three days and that He would then take His life back up.

He is risen as He said.

This is our Rock, this is our Foundation.

The Angel came and announced He was not in the grave, he also told the women to “Come, see the place where the Lord lay.”

He didn’t just tell them of the Risen Lord, no he invited them in to see the empty tomb, and the empty graveclothes.

He is Risen as He said.

Because He arose, all that we do matters. Preach the Gospel, for we have a promise from Him that He will come back. He arose as He said. So too shall He come back.

 As He said.

There is a team of magicians Penn and Teller.

The other day I saw a video of Penn Gillette talking about Christians. Saying the very same thing I have been saying for some time now.

He said "how much do you have to hate someone that you do not tell them of this chance at eternal life"?

How much do you hate them? So much so that you think that avoiding the social awkwardness is more important than telling them of Christ and this eternal life?

I have said - a lot - that it is harder to live a life dead to self for them, it is so much harder than dying for them ever would be. (no I am not equating Christ’s death on the cross as easy, I am talking of human valuation).

How much do you have to hate this world that you never tell them of the one thing you say you believe that they need most?

This goes back to the whole "do we really believe what we proclaim?"

For if we did we would be on every corner  of every street every single day telling them of death to come and the One Way out of it.

In 1 John we are told pretty much the same thing by John.

1Jn 2:9  He that saith he is in the light, and hateth his brother, is in darkness even until now.

1Jn 2:10  He that loveth his brother abideth in the light, and there is none occasion of stumbling in him.

1Jn 2:11  But he that hateth his brother is in darkness, and walketh in darkness, and knoweth not whither he goeth, because that darkness hath blinded his eyes.

If you say you are in the light, you love the light, yet you do not love your brother then you are not IN the Light nor are you OF the Light.

What more love can there be other than telling them of Jesus despite the cost to you?

Charles Peace and Penn Gillette both say the same thing. If you believe this and tell no one then how much you must hate them. Charles Peace on the way to the gallows laughed at a Bishop for words on his way to the execution. Why? Because no one preached to him, evangelized to him, as if they truly believed the Scriptures.

How can we say we are believers if we are not professors?

a person who affirms a faith in or allegiance to something.

A confessing Christian or are you just a professing Christian?

Do you confess Christ to Others and let them know He is your Savior? Do you profess Him in words and indeed? Or do you profess Him by mouth and have no action to back it up?

Can you love your neighbor as yourself if you willingly let them go to Hell?

No talk, No witness for fear you might be called names? For fear they may not be your friend? There is so much more at stake than your friendship.

This is the biggest decision they will ever make. Are you giving them the information they need? Are you worrying for them, praying for them, pleading for them before the Throne of Grace?

I doubt that we are giving them what they need, for we ourselves have no idea what we have. For if we did we would be telling everybody about it. Fear, shy, giving offense, or I don’t know how to bring it up. These are the main reasons, which is yours?

Fear? That is satan, for our Father is not the author of confusion and fear comes from confusion. Shy? Might offend?

Well then have you truly met Jesus? For once you meet Him and see Him for who He is, no one will be able to quiet you.

I don’t know your heart, but I do know the results of one Who’s life has been touched and changed by Jesus.
