Evil in the sight of the Lord.
That phrase is used 44 times in the Bible. Below are the 2 verses that say when you do or that the children of Israel WILL do evil in the sight of the Lord.
All 42 other verses are an accusation, or condemnation of those that have done evil in the sight of the Lord.
Deu_4:25 When thou shalt beget children, and children's children, and ye shall have remained long in the land, and shall corrupt yourselves, and make a graven image, or the likeness of any thing, and shall do evil in the sight of the LORD thy God, to provoke him to anger:
Deu_31:29 For I know that after my death ye will utterly corrupt yourselves, and turn aside from the way which I have commanded you; and evil will befall you in the latter days; because ye will do evil in the sight of the LORD, to provoke him to anger through the work of your hands.
At 57 years of age I have learned in this life there Is one and only one constant. That everything changes. Long term changes, short term changes, change is the one constant.
50 years ago this was a moral nation for the most part, with a high standard set for personal accountability. Pride in work, pride in self, dress and behavior.
Now 50 years later, none of that applies anymore. We have a society of victims, with no (as far as they think) accountability and can do as they please.
Deut 4:25 rings loud in my ears for God tells them what is coming and for years we have seen this cycle repeat yet we did nothing to stop it.
In fact we have hastened this fall away by our own indifference. The generation before me started to count church as optional, my generation treated it as a joke until we got a bit older and understood.
By the time we understood what was happening it was too late. We have now lost the fight, not the war but the fight and a few battles. We no longer quote the Bible as they used too, we no longer attend as they used too, and I am talking about the pulpit as much as the pew.
Even the church looks at sin now and shrugs, even the church looks at God and fails to see Him.
When God’s house no longer sees God? The one who paid the down payment? Then we are truly in trouble.
